This may or may not be possible, depending on how much of the file consists of images and non-standard fonts. If it contains one of more high resolution images, several programs exist to recode the file replacing the images with lower resolution ones. This will not affect the readability at all (unless the images contain important text). Compress Pdf Online âs full version of Compress Pdf Online and other PDF manipulation programs can do this. If you have the original file, you may find it easier to modify the resolution of the images saved in that original file, or set a preference to compress the images more as t are saved. Another way to reduce the PDF file size is to use only standard fonts rather than include non-standard fonts in the file.
A popular (or recommended) way to avoid having to recompress the file with programs like PDF is to use a program named pdftk.exe The process to get the PDF to be smaller is shown below. Open the original PDF file with an PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat or PDF Creator. Save the file in another location, such as to the C:\Users\username\Documents folder. Run the pdftk.exe program. The program will automatically attempt to download and install a newer version of the pdftk.exe from the Internet (see How this works in Using PDF). Note: The original PDF file is compressed using the same process described in the section called What to Do with compressed images below. Note: The original PDF file contains additional markup language. The PDF program extracts this content into the pdftk.exe file. This means that it is not necessary to read the pdftk.exe file with the pdftk.exe.
